2018 Intersectional Peony 'Sonoma YeDo' Update

After my 2018 Intersectional Peony Garden Welcomes Me Home, I received a question asking about how my Intersectional Peony 'Sonoma YeDo' was doing, or more specifically how it was growing. It is actually growing quite well. It's definitely not mature yet, but it certainly is very healthy and increasing in size and blooms. If you'll remember, I actually only got this plant last winter in January of 2017, and got my first bloom that spring as well, 2017 Intersectional Peony 'Sonoma YeDo' Blooms! Last year I got 1 bloom on the bush, and it had 4 stems. This year, in its second year of growth, I have 10 stems and 3 blooms on the bush. I can't wait to see what it does next year! The foliage it quite lovely and very healthy too. This yellow intersectional peony is a real keeper. Take a look for yourself!

  1. Very very nice indeed, Adriana! Congrats on two consecutive years of bloom, and the fast increase in size. It seems that the only source I can get one this year is from Adelman, since it was sold out at Solaris within minutes this January?

    1. N Tang,

Thank you! I believe you are correct. According to the 2018 Intersectional Peony Price List I compiled this year (http://www.southernpeony.com/2018/01/2018-intersectional-peony-catalog-price.html), Adelman's and Solaris were the only two growers to offer Peony 'Sonoma YeDo' for sale this year.

Yes, it seems like Solaris sells out of several popular items every year very quickly. You definitely have to be waiting for their catalog and know what you want to order right away, no hesitations.

I wouldn't wait too long to order the Peony 'Sonoma YeDo' if you want to get it this year. I'm guessing it will probably sell out from Adelman's too (even though the price is $100 higher than Solaris).

If you can wait a few years, I bet Peony Shop Holland will offer it eventually. They seem to have many of the latest intersectionals, and usually at much lower prices. The only problem is you will need to either place a very large order of your own, or try to do a combination order with other parties.

  2. Thank you for the detailed information, Adriana. Will you be at the APS convention this year? Days ago, I received the email to nominate the 2018 Gold Medal winner and your email address is where to vote.

    1. N Tang,

Yes, I will be at the APS Convention this year. I see from your comments asking about purchasing potted peonies that you will be there too. I look forward to meeting you.

You are correct. I volunteer for the APS as a Director and have been collecting the nominations for the APS Gold Medal vote for the past few years. I hope you were able to get your nominations in.
