2022 Intersectional Peony 'Haleigh's Hallelujah' at Local Nursery!

I couldn't really believe it, at first. An Intersectional Peony I've never seen before, for sale at my local nursery!?! I was actually interested in it, but then I saw the price tag $99, and it scared me off. There was also only 1 of this variety, and it looked at little smaller than the other intersectional peonies they were selling. I also didn't see a bloom bud on it. I believe I kept myself at a distance since the price was so high. So I actually left the nursery - Logan's Garden Shop, and went on shopping to see what else was being offered this spring.

Intersectional Peony 'Haleigh's Hallelujah' at Local Nursery

I actually went to Homewood Nursery to see what they were selling this year. I wasn't actually looking for a peony that day, when I found 2022 Peonies at Local Nurseries - Logan's Garden Shop & Homewood Nursery. I was really looking for anemones, the small, short growing single variety, in hot pink, red, and white. I had just seen them growing in nearby Edenton, NC when we took a weekend trip for our anniversary. Those anemones were so bright, and their colors just popped in the early spring garden, blooming with the snowdrops. Alas, I did not find any anemones, but I kept thinking about the Intersectional Peony, 'Haleigh's Hallelujah'...

Intersectional Peony 'Haleigh's Hallelujah' Plant Tag

I figured that no matter which catalog or grower I ordered this plant from, the price would probably be $50-$100 anyway, 2022 Intersectional Peony Catalog Price Comparison List (and actually I've never seen it offered before since I've been doing my intersectional peony price list - way back to 2013!) So even if someone did offer it, the price would likely be closer to $100 since it is still rare. Also you'd have to pay a shipping fee to get it to your house (on top of the price of the root). And - it would be a root, this one is a decent sized plant growing in a large 3 gallon pot!

Intersectional Peony 'Haleigh's Hallelujah'

Anyway, I rationalized my way back to Logan's Plant Shop! Ha Ha! 😃 Luckily, the plant was still there and had not been sold (since it was the only one of that variety). Also when I got back to it, I examined it a bit closer, and it did actually have some bloom buds on it. I was thinking earlier that it did not. I think I wouldn't really let myself get close enough to it to really look at it, since the price tag had scared me off! In the end I was able to purchase my very own Intersectional Peony 'Haleigh's Hallelujah', and I'm very glad I did, as it is actually a peony that was hybridized by my friend Don Smith, who I interviewed in 2016 Peony Hybridizer Interview - Don R. Smith. Intersectional Peony 'Haleigh's Hallelujah', was actually named after Don Smith's daughter - Haleigh!

I can't wait to grow it!!

2022 Peonies at Local Nurseries - Logan's Garden Shop & Homewood Nursery

Peonies at Local Nursery - Logan's Garden Shop

When I went out today to look at a couple of local nurseries, I found several varieties of peonies for sale! If you are looking for a quick way to get a peony started or to get started with peonies, buying a potted peony in spring can be a great way to jump start your collection! If you can find one in bloom or in bud with the color showing - even better! That way you can feel a little more sure of what you're getting.

Peonies at Local Nursery - Homewood Nursery

The peonies I saw today were not in bloom. They were in the stem and foliage growth stage, just the same as the peonies growing in my garden. If you do plan to purchase a potted peony this spring, be sure to get it into the ground as soon as possible before the summer weather arrives and it turns so hot! Any extra time they can get to become acclimated to their new home while the temps are still a little cool will be good.

Intersectional Peonies at Local Nursery - Homewood Nursery

Both of the nurseries I visited, both Logan's Garden Shop & Homewood Nursery were offering both the traditional herbaceous peonies and several intersectional varieties as well. I even saw some pretty new intersectional peony varieties like Intersectional Peony 'Pink Double Dandy' (aka Keiko), Intersectional Peony 'Belle Toulousaine', and Intersectional Peony 'Duchesse de Lorraine'. The prices were in the range of $40 for the herbaceous peony varieties and the range of $90-$120 for the intersectional peony varieties.

Herbaceous Peonies at Local Nursery - Logan's Garden Shop

The prices for these potted peonies are definitely more costly than purchasing a root from a grower, but you are really buying time. If you didn't purchase a peony root last year and plant it last fall (to see it grow this spring), then you'd really have to wait until next year to even see your peony grow if you are planning to buy a bare root this year. Also many bare root peony divisions won't bloom their first year to two, or sometimes they bloom the very first year, then won't bloom for another year or two. They need time to become established. These potted peonies are already established as plants on their own and will likely continue to bloom for you year after year, assuming you plant your peony in a location where it is happy!

Logan's Garden Shop Sale - 20% Peonies when you buy 3 or More -

Logan's even had a sale on peonies today - 20% off when you buy 3 or more! I am so happy to be able to support local family businesses in my area, and I hope you are able to do the same where you live! Buying local means a lot to the local economy, the local stores, the local people who own those businesses, and the local people that work there! So I hope you will Shop Small, Shop Local! and look for local plant nurseries near you (that just might already have their first shipment of peonies in)!!

2020 Tulip World Intersectional Peony 'Scrumdidleyumptious' Actually Peony 'Coral Charm'

Tulip World Intersectional Peony 'Scrumdidleyumptious'
Actually Peony 'Coral Charm'

Well, I suppose if you're going to get an incorrect peony for $12.95, Peony 'Coral Charm' is a great peony to get. I must say it is definitely disappointing to get the wrong peony from 2018 Tulip World Offers Intersectional Peony 'Scrumdidleyumptious' for $12.95!, but I think part of the value I help bring to all of you is uncovering the truth from the many and varied places you can buy a peony. In this case the peony was definitely not true to name/cultivar. It was not even true to type. It was supposed to be an Intersectional Peony, but a herbaceous peony came instead. The variety was supposed to be 'Scrumdidleyumptious' peony, but a 'Coral Charm' peony came instead.

Actually Peony 'Coral Charm' - 4/18

Peony 'Coral Charm' is actually a great peony to grow in a Southern climate. It is actually a Southern Peony Best Performer. This peony was first recognized in 2015 Peony 'Coral Charm' Best Performer - Week 2. This peony is very vigorous here, will grow larger each year, and make a large enough plant that you will be able to divide it to share with friends and family. I know it is never a great feeling to get the wrong peony, but I am still grateful for this beautiful Peony 'Coral Charm' that I recieved.

2020 Intersectional Peony 'All That Jazz' on Ebay

Intersectional Peony 'All That Jazz' on Ebay

Since I wasn't really sure about the 2020 Ordering Peonies on Etsy from ExoticseedsLatvia peony I ordered, I decided to snag one of these Intersectional Peony 'All That Jazz' I saw on Ebay. I was wondering why the shipping was so high on this one, but then I figured maybe it must be a potted plant. Noticing the description also says, "shipped in container", made it seem like this might be a nice large potted plant. A potted plant seemed like it might have a better chance to be the correct/actual variety. So I decided to take a chance on this ITOH PEONY sold by 1critter4u.

Intersectional Peony 'All That Jazz' from 1critter4u on Ebay

Sure enough, when this thing arrived it was in a massive box, probably 4 feet tall. When it got here I was hoping it might be my 2020 Tree Peony 'Imperial Crown' at Song Sparrow, which hasn't arrived yet. However it was the Intersectional Peony 'All That Jazz' that I'd ordered from Ebay. The description of this one sounds interesting:

"Can host up to 50 softly fragrant blooms at a time at maturity."

"With its thrilling colors and impressive performance, 'All That Jazz' Itoh peony is a cross of its kind - a mix of herbaceous and tree peonies which features the best qualities of its parentage. The luxurious blooms are fully double and often reach 6 inches across. Each gently fragrant blossom is a work of art displaying unique patterns of pale apricot splashed with magenta and up to 50 flowers may appear on the plant at once. Along with its elegant looks, this shrub is also quick resilient and boasts impressive winter hardiness and a lengthy bloomtime."

Intersectional Peony 'All That Jazz'

This Intersectional Peony 'All That Jazz' is a Don R. Smith hybrid. See my interview with Don here, 2016 Peony Hybridizer Interview - Don R. Smith (This peony was also the month of September in the calendar I received recently, 2020 Intersectional Peony Calendar). I'm hoping this is the correct peony variety. As you can see this intersectional peony came fully grown with 8 stems on it, and it does actually have intersectional peony folaige. There do not appear to be any buds on it. Hopefully I can get it planted quickly so that it may establish itself, get happy, and develop a bud or two for next year!! :-)

2020 Intersectional Peony 'Callie's Memory' from Hirt's Gardens on Ebay

Intersectional Peony 'Callie's Memory' from Hirt's Gardens on Ebay

Well, my first Intersectional Peony 'Callie's Memory' came from Tree Peony Garden in 2013, a nursery that used to grow tree peonies and is now closed for business. As you know this peony died this past winter, 2020 Intersectional Peony 'Callie's Memory' Dies!! I just couldn't wait to replace it. So I decided to purchase it from Hirt's Gardens on Ebay, as I have had pretty good luck with Hirt's Gardens in the past.

Intersectional Peony 'Callie's Memory' from Hirt's Gardens on Ebay

I kept this box in isolation for 3 days before opening it as well, just like when 2020 Ordering Peonies on Etsy from ExoticseedsLatvia, and this peony root too seems to be just fine, healthy, plump, with five obvious eyes on it ready to grow. This plant definitely appears to be a tissue culture plant, as it is small, with no obvious signs of division, which actually makes me feel a lot better about its potential authenticity. They even sent a nice little garden tag for it, with "Intersectional Peony 'Callie's Memory'" and a photo of the flower on it. Nice!

Intersectional Peony 'Callie's Memory' from Hirt's Gardens on Ebay

For now I am just soaking this root, to help rehydrate any moisture it has lost. Next I will find a good spot to plant it - likely the same spot the old one was in - which means I'll probably be doing an autopsy on that old Intersectional Peony 'Callie's Memory' (to the best of my abilities) to see if there is any visual evidence of what might have caused its demise. (Stay tuned for an upcoming article on that.) Then I'll fix the soil, add some lime and organic fertilizer and get it planted out. :-)

2020 Ordering Peonies on Etsy from ExoticseedsLatvia

Itoh Peony 'Jazz' on Etsy

Yes, it's a little odd, but I just had to try it out. There was an ad on Etsy for an Intersectional Peony that I didn't have, "Itoh Peony 'JAZZ'. I'd never bought a peony on Etsy before, so I just couldn't resist. I also bought 5 daylilies from another seller on there while I was at it, but that's a different story... Anyway I placed this order on March 6, and it actually arrived at the end of last week. I've been isolating my packages and mail for 3 days before I open them (due to coronavirus COVID-19).

Latvijas PASTS Box from Etsy

The box came with "Latvijas PASTS" tape all over it, which I at first thought was the company name, but Google helped me confirm that this is actually the name of the Latvian Post Office. I don't think I've ever gotten anything from Latvia before. Anyway I finally opened this box on Sunday, and I actually found two roots inside the box, "Peony Root 'Jazz'" and "Peony Root Yellow". They both appear to be quite healthy and ready to grow (definitely not dried up/dehydrated). So they did appear to make the international trip just fine.

Itoh Peony 'Jazz' & Peony Yellow Gift
from ExoticseedsLatvia on Etsy

I am curious to see if these peony roots or authentic or not. They do not appear to be cloned tissue culture plants. They definitely seem to be divisions, albeit small ones. The Peony 'Jazz' root has 3 small eyes, and the yellow peony gift just has one. However they both have about the same amount of root (just a small one). I'm just hoping they're both not a very unattractive yellow Itoh peony like a dishonest seller on Ebay was sending a few years ago. Only time will tell, at least the truth will be revealed here. :-)

2020 Tree Peony 'Joseph Rock Double' from Song Sparrow

I'm not sure if any of you have seen the news, lol, but there's a pandemic out there. Since we can't spend any money at the stores, we might as well buy more peonies instead! I couldn't help but notice that this Tree Peony 'Joseph Rock Double' was not sold out yet at Song Sparrow Farm & Nursery. Many of their other tree peonies are sold out. I've been wanting this peony for a while now and have seen it auctioned at the APS Annual Banquet a few times before. It usually goes for higher than its retail price on the Song Sparrow web site, at the auction. So I just decided that this year is the year to get it. Also the nice thing about tree peonies from Song Sparrow is they sell them as potted plants. So this tree peony will ship now in the spring. So you don't have to wait until next year to see your tree peony grow, and it's possible you might even get a bloom from your tree peony this year! Here's hoping!! :-)

Tree Peony 'Joseph Rock Double' @ Song Sparrow

The description of this Tree Peony 'Joseph Rock Double' on the Song Sparrow web site says, "More petallage than Joseph Rock, but same vigor, lush foliage and staggering blossom beauty. Radiant white with purple inner flares. Rare and seldom offered. A strong plant with fragrant blooms." I am interested to see how vigorous this one is. Some grafted tree peonies struggle to get established here. However it seems that tree peonies that grow from seed and become mature seem to be very vigorous here. Also it may depend on the quality of the graft for grafted tree peonies. There are only 2 tree peonies on the Southern Peony Best Performers list so far. So I am eager to see how this one grows!

2020 Intersectional Peony 'Scrumdidleyumptious' Arrives from K. Van Bourgondien

Intersectional Peony 'Scrumdidleyumptious' Arrives
from K. Van Bourgondien

Remember that order I placed last month for another try at Intersectional Peony 'Scrumdidleyumptious'? 2020 Intersectional Peony 'Scrumdidleyumptious' - Here We Go Again!! Well, it actually arrived last week. That was really fast. It actually arrived one week to the day after placing the order. Unlike the intersectional peonies I ordered from Spring Hill Nursery, 2020 Intersectional Peony 'Duchesse de Lorraine' Arrives from Spring Hill Nursery, this peony was not potted, growing, and carefully packed. It was bagged in a vented plastic bag containing peat moss and shipped in the box with a couple of air bubbles to minimize damage and breakage in transit. It's a little disappointing in comparison. However this root was much cheaper. Hopefully the savings in price is from the treatment and presentation of the plant and not the authenticity this time!

Intersectional Peony 'Scrumdidleyumptious' Bagged

I was able to get the root planted quickly, and I decided to plant it right next to one of the fake ones I received from Tulip World, 2019 'Scrumdidleyumptious' Intersectional Peony Update, for comparison purposes. It will be interesting to see how the foliage compares when they are both up and growing. I hope this one wakes up soon, as it looks like it has been storage perhaps. I'm also hoping this one is the real thing. The root I got this time from K. Van Bourgondien looks much different that the roots I got from Tulip World, 2018 Intersectional Peony 'Scrumdidleyumptious' Arrives. Here's hoping it's correct!!! :-)

2020 Intersectional Peony 'Duchesse de Lorraine' Arrives from Spring Hill Nursery

Intersectional Peony 'Duchesse de Lorraine' Arrives

My order of Intersectional Peony 'Duchesse de Lorraine' arrived this week from Spring Hill Nursery. The plants arrived well packaged and quite safe from spills and accidents just as they did the last time I placed an intersectional peony order with Spring Hill Nursery, 2019 Spring Hill Nursery Peony Order Arrives. Each peony is potted and growing in a small pot. The pots are bagged and twist tied, and then securely attached to cardboard boxes with viewing panes that are wrapped in an additional layer of shrink wrapped plastic. Last year the intersectional peonies I ordered had foliage visible in those viewing panes, while the Intersectional Peony 'Duchesse de Lorraine' plants I ordered this year did not.

Intersectional Peony 'Duchesse de Lorraine' Order Arrives

Intersectional Peony 'Duchesse de Lorraine' Potted and Bagged

The big difference may be the timing of the order. Last year I received my order in mid April and the peonies were fully leafed out, which made it easy to identify the foliage as intersectional. This year I received my order in early March, and the peonies have not yet leafed out, which makes them a bit harder to verify as intersectional. However one of the two peonies received has started to break dormancy, as the bud has visibly opened, and a tiny leaflet has emerged. This tiny leaflet does appear to be very tree peony like in appearance, which leads me to believe these are likely intersectional peonies. I'd like to verify the full foliage once it emerges to make the final determination. So I'll keep you posted as the peony foliage continues to mature.

2020 Intersectional Peony 'Scrumdidleyumptious' - Here We Go Again!!

Not-Intersectional Peony 'Scrumdidleyumptious'

So. I'm pretty sure the Intersectional Peony 'Scrumdidleyumptious' I ordered in 2018 Tulip World Offers Intersectional Peony 'Scrumdidleyumptious' for $12.95! was a fake. Like not-even-an-intersectional-peony-fake. What peony it is, I'm not sure. However I'm pretty sure it's an herbaceous peony just from the foliage I saw come up last year in 2019, and the preliminary foliage I've seen pop up this year so far in 2020. This photo is actually from 2019. I'll have to post another picture whenever this plant actually blooms, since now I'm just curious. However I couldn't help but notice that K. Van Bourgondien is offering this Intersectional Peony 'Scrumdidleyumptious' this year (for a bit higher - but still reasonable price $35). Their web site says they ship this item in the spring. So I'll keep you posted on what this looks like when it arrives and what the foliage looks like if/(hopefully) when the foliage sprouts for me this spring.

2020 Intersectional Peony 'Duchesse de Lorraine' at Spring Hill Nursery

I'm not sure if this is real or not, but since I had a bit of luck with the intersectional peonies I ordered from Spring Hill last year, 2018 Strawberry Crème Brûlée Intersectional Peony at Spring Hill Nursery, I decided to give it a try. This Intersectional Peony 'Duchesse de Lorraine' is obviously not registered with the American Peony Society. However that doesn't mean it couldn't be real. I am eager to see whether it is. I haven't seen an intersectional peony like this, except for Intersectional Peony 'Sonoma YeDo', 2017 Intersectional Peony 'Sonoma YeDo' Blooms!, which was a kind gift from a Southern gardening friend, 2017 First Intersectional Peony Gift from a Friend, and Intersectional Peony 'Sonoma Halo' - which I do not currently grow (still a bit too pricey for me - $200 is the lowest price for it on this year's Southern Peony 2020 Intersectional Peony Catalog Price Comparison List).

Intersectional Peony 'Duchesse de Lorraine'
@ Spring Hill Nursery

Plus I found a coupon on one of my favorite coupon sites (Retail Me Not) for "BOGO FOR 1¢", and it worked on this Intersectional Peony 'Duchesse de Lorraine'. So I decided to give it a try. You still need to pay shipping & tax, so it came out to about $79 for 2 for me. It isn't super cheap, but it's much cheaper than their original price, $59 each (and cheaper than $200 for one!). The coupon code is 0474301, and it says it is good until March 25, 2020. So you still have a bit of time to use the coupon, but I'm not sure how long it will take for these peonies to sell out.

Intersectional Peony 'Duchesse de Lorraine'
@ Spring Hill Nursery

If you don't feel comfortable "taking a chance", I would recommend passing on this. You can just wait a few years for me to see if I actually got what they said I did. :-) In my last intersectional peony order I placed with them, 2019 Spring Hill Nursery Peony Order Arrives, the plants were all healthy, well packed, growing foliage already, and they definitely had intersectional peony foliage. So that's why I decided to take a chance on these. They are also selling Intersectional Peony 'Oochigeas' (which I picked up from them last year) and Intersectional Peony 'Magical Mystery Tour' (which I already grow), in case you're interested.

2020 Tree Peony 'Imperial Crown' at Song Sparrow

Tree Peony 'Imperial Crown' at Song Sparrow

Every year I keep hearing that this is going to be the last year of operation at Song Sparrow, but somehow they just keep on going. I have been wanting this Tree Peony 'Imperial Crown' for a few years now. I always hesitate to purchase things because I need to wait until the next month to buy it (for budget reasons), and then by the time the next month rolls around, it is sold out. I'm starting to worry that if I don't order it now, I may lose the opportunity. If anyone knows me, they know how much I love purple, and the purple color on this Tree Peony 'Imperial Crown' is just eye-popping! I hope it's that gorgeous in person. Also if I order it now, I *might* get to see it bloom this spring! That's the nice thing about the tree peonies (and intersectional peonies) at Song Sparrow. They sell them as potted plants that they ship spring through fall! My order is in! I can't wait to get it!

2020 Intersectional Peony 'Caroline Constabel' for Sale at Oh My Peonies for $65

I received an email last week from Sue at Oh My Peonies inquiring about adding her business to our price list. She says she joined the American Peony Society as a commercial member so that she could be included here in the Southern Peony Price Lists. That's great news! So I took a look at her web site, and Oh My Peonies actually has quite a few intersectional peonies listed with reasonable prices as well. You can see how their prices compare in the updated Southern Peony 2020 Intersectional Peony Catalog Price Comparison List. I'd never ordered anything from Oh My Peonies before, but I decided to give them a try.

Intersectional Peony 'Caroline Constabel'
for Sale at Oh My Peonies

While going through the Oh My Peonies catalog, I noticed an intersectional peony that I didn't have for a reasonable price - Peony 'Caroline Constabel'. It says this peony is named in "honor of the researcher behind Planteck's micropropagation program". That's interesting. The flower looks lovely. It is a nice shade of rose with very double flowers. It is described as a full double, but it looks to me like somewhere in between a semi-double and double. I've also seen this flower on Peony Shop Holland's web site. However it doesn't appear that you can actually order it from Peony Shop Holland currently. So right now it appears that Oh My Peonies is the only place you can buy Intersectional Peony 'Caroline Constabel' this year. If you'd like to get your hands on one, now might be your opportunity! Good luck!!

2020 Adelman Offers Peony 'Greenland' for $75.00!

Adelman Peony Gardens Offers Peony 'Greenland' for $75.00!

I was excited to see this Peony 'Greenland' offered at Adelman Peony Gardens this year. I know I have seen this one before, but I haven't seen it offered for sale (at least not since I've been doing my Herbaceous Hot 100 Peony Price Lists). So Peony 'Greenland' finally made it onto my 2020 Southern Peony Herbaceous Hot 100 Peony Price List this year at $75, which I think is a steal. This peony was hybridized by Roy Pehrson, and Peony 'Roy Pehrson's Best Yellow' does phenomenally in my garden. So I'm really excited to see how this Peony 'Greenland' might perform. It gets the "Green" part of its name because the petals are supposed to be a bit greenish colored when first starting to open. So I am really excited to see that too, since I don't have any other "green" peonies in my garden! If you're looking for something unique to add to your garden this year, this peony might just be it!

2020 Swenson Gardens Offers 30 Hot 100 Herbaceous Peonies!

Swenson Gardens Offers 30 Hot 100 Herbaceous Peonies!

I'm not sure if I can afford any of them, but Swenson Gardens is offering 30 Hot 100 Herbaceous Peony Varieties this year! Check out our Southern Peony Herbaceous Hot 100 Peony Price List to see all of 30 their varieties offered (along with their prices)! The photo above is just a sampling of their offering. Check out the Swenson Gardens web site to see the photos for all of their offerings. These hot herbaceous peonies range in price from $50 to $1000. Yes, I said $1000! I'm not sure I've ever seen a single peony root offered for $1000.00 before, but now I have!

Swenson Gardens Offers Peony 'Red Lacquer' for $1000.00!

The single peony root that is being offered for $1000 is not a new introduction either. Apparently, it must be a rare Saunders hybrid, Peony 'Red Lacquer'. I had not heard of this variety before, but it is registered with the APS. However they do not yet have a photo of it in their registry. So I guess it must be rare. I like to collect Saunders' peonies myself. (I have a separate garden bed dedicated to Saunders peonies.) But I don't like to collect them that much ($1000 per root). I'm sure there are people out there that do and will pay that much, though. So if that someone might be you, I would advise quick action to reserve one of them, as I'm sure they'll be sold out soon!

2020 Song Sparrow Offers Peony 'Golden Angel' for $36 (from $125)

Song Sparrow Offers 'Golden Angel' for $36 (from $125)

I really can't believe this one! I'm thinking this really must be a price mistake. I would go ahead and order one right away just in case. I don't know if you've seen the 2020 Southern Peony Herbaceous Hot 100 Price List yet or not, but... Song Sparrow dropped the price of Peony 'Golden Angel' from $125 last year to $36 this year. I'm not sure if they are just getting rid of this variety or what, but this is an awesome price for this peony! I don't grow this one yet, but I have been wanting it for a long, long time. THE best thing about this peony is its Foliage! Check out the photos of how it goes from a bright orange to super yellow, to neon yellow green! I have already ordered one myself from Song Sparrow and can't wait to see it in action!! I hope you can snag one too!

2020 Solaris Farms Offers 20 Intersectional Peony Varieties for $30.00!

Southern Peony Intersectional Peony Garden

Remember back in 2014 Swenson Gardens 7 Intersectional Peonies for $35!? That was unheard of back then, well I think Solaris Farms just took the cake. This year in the 2020 Solaris Farms catalog they are offering 20, (yes 20!), different intersectional peony varieties for $30 each. Intersectional peonies are now finally becoming affordable to all peony growers. That's 20 different cultivars to choose from in an impressive array of colors - Yellows, Pinks, Blush, Coral Pinks, Reds, and Lavender.

Check out our Southern Peony 2020 Intersectional Peony Price List to see all of the intersectional peony varieties they are offering and how the prices stack up, but let me tell you. Solaris Farms is really blowing away the competition this year on intersectional peony price points, and I am thrilled! If you're ready to fill out your intersectional peony bed (or start a new one), head on over to Solaris Farms to fill it up! :-)

2020 Intersectional Peony 'Chief Black Hawk' Price Drops Over 50%

Intersectional Peony 'Chief Black Hawk'
Price Drops from $175 to $85 at Brooks Gardens!

Another piece of breaking news from this year's Southern Peony 2020 Intersectional Peony Price List - Intersectional Peony 'Chief Black Hawk' Price Drops by Over 50% (in one year)!! I must say I had been waiting and waiting for the price of this intersectional peony to come down, and now it finally has. (Although, I actually won this peony in the American Peony Society auction last year. So I don't need to buy it now, but you might!) The lowest price for this peony in last year's Southern Peony 2019 Intersectional Peony Price List was $175.00!!! Now in this year's 2020 price list, the price for Intersectional Peony 'Chief Black Hawk' has come down to $85 at Brooks Gardens! What a steal! If you've been waiting for the price of this one to drop too, now's the time to bite! Intersectional Peony 'Chief Black Hawk' is supposed to be the darkest red intersectional peony on the market. I don't think any new intersectional peony registrations have been made that are darker. Now's your chance to snag one!

2020 Intersectional Peony Bartzella Reaches $35 Price Point

Intersectional Peony 'Bartzella'

Wow! If you haven't had time to review my 2020 Southern Peony Intersectional Peony Price List yet, you'll be happy to know Intersectional Peony 'Bartzella' has reached a new lowest-ever price point of $35 at Solaris Farms! I have never seen this peony ever offered at this low, low price! Peony 'Bartzella' is an American Peony Society Gold Medal Winner and a Southern Peony Best Performer. It remains one of the most popular intersectional peonies of all time due to its beautiful, tall, rounded growth habit, its giant, double, golden yellow blossoms, and its vigor in so many climates. I can't say enough good things about this peony. It grows well, multiples well, divides well, and most of all - it makes your garden beau ceaux beautiful!!!

If you still don't have Intersectional Peony 'Bartzella', now is the time to pick one up (or three). Your garden will be blooming in giant yellow-petalled blossoms in no time! Even if you already own Intersectional Peony 'Bartzella', now might be the time to add a grouping or line a walk with these gorgeous yellow beauties. Every spring, your garden will thank you! ;-)
